Community
Graham has been involved with his local community in the town of Huddersfield and the wider Yorkshire region over many years and has contributed time and hard cash to a number of projects.
A major project for the town, which took over 3 years of Graham’s life, was the creation of the first ever 25,000 seater stadium for Rugby and Football. The now famous, Galpharm Stadium has made a huge difference to both the local economy and the quality of sport and entertainment in the town.
Graham is enthusiastic and proud of his links to the University of Huddersfield and shares the opinion of the Vice Chancellor that it is essential for students to have an understanding of business and entrepreneurship to enhance their education. He regularly meets with students and speaks to them about his experience in business and life in general.
In 1989 Graham was elected to the Board of Huddersfield Town football club at a time when rugby league and football were in decline in the town. He served as chairman of the football club for a short time and determined to help the club and community by securing the future of football and rugby in the town.
Graham works very closely with Professor Cryan who has been recognised for his contribution to the growth and development of the University, strengthening links with local businesses and his commitment to further the cause and prosperity of Huddersfield.
